We wanted to create a digital version that stays faithful to the traditional rules you grew up with, while making it accessible on any device. Checkers (also known as Draughts in many parts of the world) is one of the oldest strategy board games in history. Archaeological evidence suggests variants of the game were played as far back as 3000 BCE in the ancient city of Ur. The modern version played on an 8×8 board was standardised in 12th-century France and has been a beloved pastime ever since.
Our digital adaptation uses standard American Checkers rules: 12 pieces per side on an 8×8 board, mandatory jumps, and King promotion upon reaching the opponent's back row. The interface is built with intuitive drag-and-drop controls that work seamlessly with both mouse and touchscreen input.
